Begin with the operating cycle
A reliable brief describes the job before it names a truck. Record the daily distance, road surface, steepest gradient, number of spray cycles, refill source and access constraints. These inputs determine whether a lighter, manoeuvrable unit or a larger-capacity truck will deliver more water per shift.
Calculate capacity from legal payload
One litre of water is approximately one kilogram before the tank, pump, bodywork, crew and accessories are counted. The proposed tank must therefore be checked against chassis payload, gross vehicle weight and axle distribution. Nominal volume must not be treated as guaranteed usable payload.
Describe the water source
- Hydrant or elevated tank: give outlet size and expected pressure.
- Ground-level storage: state hose length and desired refill time.
- River, dam or borehole source: state suction lift and water cleanliness.
Open-source water may require strainers or additional filtration. Confirm acceptable water use and environmental permissions locally.
Choose the working functions
Dust suppression often uses front and rear sprays; road washing can need angled nozzles; remote delivery may need a hose reel; higher-reach application can use a monitor. Specify required width, reach and control position rather than selecting every accessory by default.
Plan for left-side traffic
Kenya drives on the left. Review the position of valves, hose connections and manual controls so routine work does not unnecessarily place operators into the live traffic side.
Use a written acceptance checklist
- Chassis, engine, drive and right-hand-drive configuration
- Tank material, nominal capacity and internal protection
- Pump model, flow basis, suction and discharge equipment
- Spray functions, hose and control layout
- Dimensions, tare estimate, gross weight and axle loading
- Included manuals, parts list, inspection and shipping documents
Do not release production from a marketing description alone. Use a signed technical agreement with drawings or a configuration schedule.
